Shape of the School Day

Firstly can I apologise for another letter so close to the last one- it is not my intention to communicate so much as I do realise how busy you are.

I wanted to clarify the information on the shape of the school day as this was not clear in my previous letter. As a result of us balancing up the two lunchtime slots, the school day has shifted slightly in the afternoon. This means that lessons now finish at 3.20 rather than 3.25pm as it was previously. To avoid too much congestion at the end of the day, key stage 3 classes will be let out from 3.15pm. Can I assure you that this change in the school day does not reduce learning time and we will continue to review it.

This week has been incredibly positive so far and the students continue to be mature and co-operative. I know that there will be some people who disagree with the use of face masks in schools and I do understand this perspective. We did not take that decision lightly. Students have been really on-board this week and we do feel that this is a further way to reduce risk. We are, of course, accommodating students with exemptions.

The lanyards are a vital part of our plan. We have been giving spare lanyards to students without them but we are running out. We would really appreciate it if you could help remind students of lanyards and facemasks until they become part of everyday routine.

Thank you for your on-going support. We really do appreciate it.

Yours faithfully
Liz Wood
