In the event that your child is unwell we would like to remind you of the following procedures for contacting the school.
If your child is unable to attend school due to sickness, please contact the school by ringing the main school number on 01603 485266 and pressing Option 2. You will be requested to leave a message and we ask you to let us know your child’s name, tutor group, reason for the absence and if you know the duration they will be off. In the event that your child has diarrhoea and vomiting we ask that you keep you child off for 48 hours after the last bout of illness. We also ask you to make regular contact with the school about their illness so that we don't have to contact you by text.
If your child needs to ever leave school for an appointment please put a note in their journal. Your child will then need to show this note to the teacher who will be teaching at this time, as well show it to the Student Liaison Officer when they sign out.
If your child is ill during the normal school day, your child should inform a member of staff who will arrange for them to go to the school office or First Aider for assistance. The office or First Aider will contact the parent, guardian or carer to discuss whether the child should remain in school or be collected. Any child being sent home due to illness will need to be collected - we cannot send children home independently when they are ill. Any concerns regarding contagious illness, injury or D & V will be referred immediately to the parent, guardian or carer who will be asked to collect the child from school. Once the student has left site the school will then make all the necessary adjustments to the register. Our policy is that parents, guardians or carers contact the school to report sickness absence and not the child themselves.
