We are exceptionally proud of our Sixth Form provision which we truly believe offers something for everyone.
At Sprowston, we see students as individuals with different skills, talents and interests. It is important to us that we build a curriculum model that recognises this and offers bespoke routes for everyone. At the same time, we believe passionately that we need to prepare students for the competitive world of work. Whilst academic outcomes are important and central to what we do, we also believe that students need to have opportunities to develop personally, developing skills of independence, resilience and confidence. For this reason our programme of enrichment and careers guidance is integral to our approach.
Our Sixth Form provision is underpinned by strong teaching and learning. Our specialist teachers are experts in their areas and able to develop very effective and purposeful relationships with the students that they teach. Teachers have high expectations of learners and will support them to become confident and skilled in their chosen area of study.
We recognise that the transition to Sixth Form life can be challenging as course demands increase and there is more onus on independent skills. For this reason, we are committed to high level, personalised pastoral care which will range from a personal tutor to specialist mental health support where this is required. Our 6th Form Leads are supported by a Pastoral Lead, which is a non-teaching post which allows flexibility to meet the needs of students as they arise.
We want our Sixth Form to be at the heart of our school. My vision is that Sixth Formers are seen as role models to younger students and are key in leading change in school. We are a school with a heart, and we have a commitment to supporting charity events and the wider community. I believe that our Sixth Form can make a huge contribution in this area, changing lives whilst also demonstrating the skills and talents that will increase their self-confidence, inter-personal skills and employability.
This is a really exciting time to become a Sixth Former at Sprowston, and we very much hope you take this journey with us.
I am so excited about the journey we are embarking on with our Sixth Form. There is no doubt that recent changes in Leadership have rebooted our Sixth Form significantly.
Our five pathways offer you the right choice of subjects and routes to the next stage of your lives. If your route is a highly academic one leading to an Oxbridge application, we can support you with a dedicated member of staff throughout Key Stage 5 with focussed career advice and guidance. Or, if you need to join us on a three-year pathway to retake your English and Maths GCSE’s so that you can progress onto our level 3 courses in Health & Social Care or Sports Studies, again we have the appropriate route for you.
We are sharper, more focused, and have higher expectations than ever before. So, if you are looking to be pushed to achieve the best possible KS5 outcomes, we are the place for you. Once with us, we will provide you with the wrap-around care needed during your transition into adulthood. To aid you in making the best possible start, we begin Year 12 with an almost school-like approach with all students on-site all of the time, attending every form time and study period. As you progress through Year 12, we afford you more and more freedoms until in Y13 you can sign in and out for home study. Furthermore, we have a dedicated pastoral support worker, whose job it is to know you and any barriers you may have in achieving your full potential and work with you to remove them over time.
Another thing I am extremely excited about is building-in ‘enrichment afternoons’ into our timetable. We have never done this before and it will afford you the opportunity to build a high-quality personal statement for University and Apprenticeship applications through representing our Sixth Form at sporting events, undertaking volunteering sessions, gaining further qualifications and learning some good life skills like how to change a punctured wheel on your car or cook a delicious meal!
So, in summary, we are a ‘Sixth Form For All’ those that have the determination to take every opportunity offered to them, and we offer many.

Our aim is for you to leave Sprowston Community Academy Sixth Form having reached your goals and achieved your full potential. For each student to leave being the version of themselves they can be.
We offer an inclusive and broad curriculum with experiences that allows all students to thrive both academically and personally. Our Sixth Form is a Sixth Form for all. We have a wide range of courses that will challenge and inspire all types of learner. Our curriculum provides a mixture of A levels and vocational qualifications, as well as an Oxbridge programme for our most gifted students. We pride ourselves on having experienced staff delivering consistently high quality lessons and provision for your qualifications. With the student being at the centre of all we do, progress is closely monitored and interventions are made to support every student in reaching their potential. With dedicated Careers and Pastoral teams, all students are fully supported and guided through making next steps after Sixth Form.
Although our main focus is on high achievement, we recognise and value the importance of opportunities available outside academic studies. It is vital for students to develop as an individual, so they leave with the key skills and confidence that they need to be a success in the future. We promote a ‘work hard, play hard’ culture amongst our students. A range of enrichment opportunities are available throughout the Sixth Form that develop students' individual skills, create opportunities for them to give back to the community and activities to enjoy and share with friends.
We look forward to welcoming you into our Sixth Form in September.
